I currently have a x800 xt pe.

I am looking to upgrade but don't have much money. What is the cheapest ati card I can buy that would at the very least match the x800 xt pe I currently have. I was thinking about the HD 2600 range but was not sure how they stack against what I currently have.

Any help would be appreciated.

My Son and I had your card flashed and overclocked. I got him a 2600xt and he has noticed a major improvement in all his games. Games like Oblivion and his car racing games are not holding him back. I bought the 2900pro and converted it to xp and noticed major improvements. Yes gpu's have gotten better from two to three years ago. Depending on what I play thats my change over on vid cards.
 
If you have AGP I would get a X1950Pro.
If you have PCI-e I would get a HD2900Pro then flash it to XT.
