ati tray tools artifact tester wrong?

i do the max mem/gpu in ati tray tools...and it reports that i can run my core at 426 and my memory at 554,no artifacts....i run ati tool....and i cant even run 420/535 without it saying artifacts found.....ive been gaming in doom 3 and americas army with it at 425/1105 and saw no artifacts....whats the deal here?should i try one over the other,or should i just trust my eyes in games?some help would be great here guys,thanks a ton!
 
If you see no artifacts, you games don't crash and your temps are safe, the take the ATI tools and gag it...

ATI tool i found is good to find a "decent overclock" it just seems very sensitive - liekly more so then a game, on finding artifacts

when i O/C

1. ati tool - ,max mem / max core
2. reboot - run 3dmark05 / play some farcry max details / res (i dont care if my FPS are below 20 - i want to stress the card)
3. if solid, manually O/C more myself - reboot - repeat step 2

if that works i game for hours on end fracry / joint operations (real hard on video) and such. - no problems - then i flash new bios with locked speeds.
 
From my experience, it seems that ATI Tray Trool artificat tester is just very very sensitive. In fact I was getting artificts at stock speed..
