ati tool wont oc mem

When using ati tool i cant o/c my mem. Core overclocks fine, voltages ahve been changed, services disabled. Using ver 25beta 14, when i use beta 15 i cant o/c anything. I have a x1900xt by connect3d, thanks :)
 
I have no answers but will tell you with ATI tool beta 15 I was also unable to overclock anything. Went to 14 and have had no problems. I have the same card, just got it. I can say mine does not overclock very well. 660 core and that's it, 750 memory. I was a bit disappointed.
 
ty for the link, that is the guide that i followed. However mem still doesnt o/c :( will waait for new version.

Your card might be too hot, or PSU limited. What do you have for the PSU and what temps are you getting? When I had my XTX (Sapphire), I could OC to 704 core and 816 Mem just fine. I had the fan at 100% though.
 
i have the ocz 700w gamextreme psu and the i ahve watercooling on the card with ramsinks on the ram and a 120mm fan blowing over the card. Ok to clarify, the problem with the ram is with ati tool it will not hold any ram settings. As in i can oc the ram to 594.5 but when i set it to 595 it will go back to 594.5 and setting it to 596 just blanks the screen. gpu volatges have all been adjusted higher than standard and no go.
 
Almost sounds like the ram is stuck on 2D clocks for some reason. I take it all the voltages are set to 3D settings. But to be honest I'm a noob at this stuff and don't want to lead you down the wrong road. Maybe you can dump ATI tool and try reva tuner. I hear it is also and excellant OC'ing tool. As for my OC'ing woes, I have an ANTEC 2 430watt PSU. The card easily reaches 90C under a load and highest has been 96C while using ATI tool. I'm going to get a water block to cool it.
 
why couldnt they have just made it like nvidia with coolbits :( yeah i set all my voltages to 3d cor clocks absolutely fine but memeory wont move at all.
 
I hear ya...I had my buddies 7800 in my computer and I really liked cool bits. Much easier to use.
 
I suppose if ATI would ever fix there crappy Control panel it would be just as nice a cool bits. But as every one knows CCP sucks.
 
The developer of ATi Tool is still working on the X1900 series compatibility problems. This does take time, so all you X1900 owners out there will have to be patient. ;)

anywho. define "wont overclock memory" slider wont move? temps/performace doesnt increase? what doesnt change?

and ATi tool beta is just that, beta. they have some algorythm they dont want to stick in their software yet, get an older non-beta ver, and see if that helps.
 
The ATI services regularly make my card go back to default clocks.
If I want a guarantee that my overclock will stick I need to disable the ATI services.
Mine is an X1800XT though so your problem could be different.

Just pointing out that cool bits is far superior to CCC, it acutually works. Plus I bet 8 out of 10 people would say they hate CCC, it never works as advertised. So I would call that a bad rating. Keep in mind there is no scientific data to prove 8 out 10 don't like it. I like CCC when it actually opens or overdrive works. But thats just me. Also you will only be able to go so far back with ATI tool. If the new beta versions don't work rigth what makes you think older versions, that don't support X1000 series cards, will work any better. The betas are correcting existing bugs for these cards, EXISTING. :D
 
i finally got it working, The mem was set at 2.1v and 594mhz, everytime i moved the slider to 595 it would just move itself back down to 594 and then if i adjusted anything above 595 it would give me a blank or white screen. Meme sems very stubborn on the card. What volats are u guys got on the mem?
 
Glad to hear it :) . This is what I have mine set at 625/750 clocks. Pretty much stock settings.

VGPU= 1.425V
MVDDC= 2.086V
MVDDQ= 2.086V
VDDCI= 1.456V
 
Well looks like you have a pretty good card. I can only get the core to 660 at 1.5v. Memory to 770 at 2.086, any higher and all craps out. ot sure if it heat related or just a bad overclocker.
 
man graphics card overclockig is such a pain in the ass. im gona get it to xtx speeds and then leave it there i think
 
Question: I use CCC to overclock my x1800xt to 681/792 since my version of ATI Tray Tools won't allow me to, and my card max load was 68C after an hour of Oblivion. Do voltages raise automatically? Or is it still running on stock voltage?
