ATI Tool& Tray Tools Are Wrong For O/Cing?

I have a Sapphire x1900xt 256, and I overclocked it using ATI Tool & Tray Tools to check for artifacts at certain speeds, and then I set the speeds in CCC.

The core clock seems correct. I begin to artifact in both program at 689-690Mhz, and 3dmark06 did run with a 680Mhz core (did not try higher).

The memory however... is WAY off. ATI Tool doesn't artifact until 823Mhz, but I have issues running 3dmark06 at anything higher than 775Mhz, so it is not stable. Some games run, but when I exit, I have colored stripes on the screen. So I had to downlock. I run at 662/765 to ensure 100% stability. (will probably push it up to 675/765 soon)

My card does not overheat either, it barely ever hits 70C. 66C is the most common load temp I get with the span spinning at 77%

Voltages (Stock)
VGPU - 1.4V
Memory - 1.84V

Anyone else having a similar problem. I thought ATI Tool was the equivalent of a Prime 95 for testing stability... but I guess not?

I bump the vmem to around 1.85-1.86 and I can almost hit 800mhz stable in all benchies. Ur core doesn't seem to be off I can only hit 785. But you have lower temps than I do.

Could it be that ATItool doesnt saturate all 48 pipes?
I've heard stories of it not being ready for X1900 cards.

what verison of ATi Tool are you using? i'm using 0.25 beta 14 on my X1900XT 256. clocked at 715/801, its not the max it can do but i'm satisfied with it for now.

core voltage: 1.425
VDDR: 2.088

i bumped the memory volts up a little and can run 3dmark05 just fine. i know the core can go higher, also i'm on watercooling.

i tired using 0.25 beta 15, but it caused a lot of crashing and i couldn't push my memory over 800mhz.

What are your temps like with watercooling?

I've noticed the card artifacts not due to lack of voltage it just plain overheats, more voltage helps it stay stable with the same heat, but there is the conundrum more wattage = more heat unless you have good cooling. The VF900 is pretty much like a stock replacement that is quieter, I'm still hungry for more ahh.

my temps are:

idle: 40c
load: 46-47c
ambient: 21-22c
core volts: 1.425

my opty 165 is at stock volts so it doesn't give off that much heat to add to my gpu temps.

I also use beta 14. I do not want to push voltages up. I already get that weird pulsating noise when everything is at stock when I run the artifact scanner (its not very loud but it causes me concern).
