Greetings,

FINALLY upgraded my rig to the specs in my sig. Im using the Omega drivers based off of the Cat 5.1's. Opted for Omega because I do not, never wanted, and never will want the Catalyst Control Center. I haven't OC'd my X1800XT yet. It's cooled with a Danger Den Maze4. No cooling on the memory just yet. it's a new build.

Anyhow, I tried to set a lower 2d clock because I know the card is programmed to run slower during 2d and run at advertised clocks in 3d. Well, I set the sliders down and saved the profile, then went to load it, got some weird things on the screen, and then I had to reboot. Is there a version of ATI Tool out there that will play better with the X1800XT?? I think I'm using version 24 but not sure. I'm in class right now so I can't check. Anyway, anyone been having problems with ATI Tool and their X1800XT???

Could it be the Omega drivers and ATI Tool???? I certainly hope not. I haven't gotten the chance to check max core and memory speed either yet. I'd also appreciate hearing from people with the ASUS X1800XT to see what their max clocks are (preferrably under water). Any suggestions on getting ATI Tool to work right would also be appreciated. I've used ATI Tool before with my 9800 Pro and X800XT with no issues.

Thanks

Thanks

I am using ATI Tool version 25 beta 12b and it is working ok with my X1800XT so far with no crashes, ver. 24 does not work with the X1800XT.
:p :p

CCC controls the 2d 3d clocks

Indeed. Without CCC, you *cannot* have alternate 2d and 3d clock speeds. Honestly, I finally sucked it up and just started using CCC. Once you get used to it, it's really not that bad, and it's improved a LOT in using less system resources since the earliest versions.

ATI Tray Tool is a better util than ATI Tool for most cards, but it can't do anything with X1K-series card clock speeds. So, you are stuck with ATI Tool (which, to be fair, *is* perfectly functional if not offering as many options - ATI Tray Tool can act as a CCC/CP replacement in entirely, to include differing clock speeds and all. ATI Tool...offers one or two minor tweaks and the clock speed settings).

ANYWAY, that's neither here nor there. Sounds like a version issue. AFAIK, ATI Tool versions before 0.25 couldn't do anything with X1K cards at all - and I always found the program WONDERFULLY unstable with X1K cards until beta 12 of 0.25, which seems to work fairly well finally.

dderidex,

I am just using the Saphire PE bios that set my 3d clocks to 695/800 and use CCC to control the 2d and 3d clocks switching and basically only use ATI Tool to monitor the temps and also to control the fan speed. :p :D

Ok, I just got home. I indeed have ATI Tool v0.25 Beta 13 installed.

Here's what the log file had before the crash:

ATITool v0.25 Beta 13 started.

2006-02-14 12:56:26 Done

And it was indeed "done" because I could see anything on either screen and had to reboot.

Other ideas??

The latest ATITool prompts the user and closes the hotkey poller.

Check and make sure your voltages are correct for your card. I don't know off-hand what those would be for an X1800 - you'll have to look that up.

hopefully you mean they are based on 6.1's, i dont think the 5.1's would support the X1800

My bad. Based of the 6.1's.

I disabled the ATi Hotkey poller. Thanks. I'll give it another go. Anyway, what have people been getting clock-wise when they overclock this card on water? Just curious, so I can compare my results later and see if I've got a good clocking card or not.

Well, Techpowerup.com clearly states that Ati Tool + third party drivers are prone to crash.
