ATI Radeon HD 3400 PLEASE HELP (CS Source)

go in console in game and type:

fps_max 300
cl_cmdrate 101
cl_updaterate 101
rate 30000
 
Wasnt there something with early amd dual cores and a fix? or disable multicore rendering
 
hmmm... im not sure then, sorry... best advice is go into options > video > advanced

and start turning down unnecessary settings like AA, Anisot, reflect etc etc

also for all the console commands, make sure you're not literally in a game yet (as in a map), make sure you're at the main menu of "find server, create map, achieve, bug support etc"

They did update the engine a while back to be aware of multicore cpus, im thinking of the fix during XP time and when i played source. in advanced there is the option to disable multiple core rendering
 
i ve played cs:s on my laptop hd 3450 althon x2 ,tho it's playable its not that fast. Under 30 fps and that's laptop resolutions.
You'll want to lower the texture details and maybe shadow if u want a better gaming experience.
They update cs:s with orange box and since it's quite worse on older hardware.

You should upgrade if u got a pcie slot , that cards old.
An hd 7770 for 120$, A 7850 is twice that much.
Would allow u to play at high resolution but then you'd need a new monitor? . I'm still rocking a hd4770 on my pc and runs most everything.

hmm.. i'm not aware of any multi-core use for cs:s specifically because its so old. i know the steam engine does support multi-cores for certain games (typically the newer ones i.e L4D) but not cs:s.. i played since 1.3 cs until even today... although i could be wrong...
