ATI Radeon 5970 fps problem

Hey guys my system is

i7 860

8gb ddr3

Saphire radeon 5970 (stock)

thermaltake 850 w psu



So I just got a 5970 and I've tried just about everything, numerous versions of drivers form 10-4 up to the most current ones, tried disabling AI catalyst, running driver sweep (even though my previous card was already a radeon 5770), all of that and I'am still having issues. My main problem is the performance on practically everything, almost every single game that I have run thus far (BC 2, Crysis, Dirt 2 and others) unbelievably the 5970 has performed worse than my previous 5770, with fps of 20 to 30s on BC 2, while on the 5770 it used to be more like 40 to 50s everything set at high.

As you can see in the two pictures one of the gpu is not running at its cappabilities of 725mz core clock and 1000 mz memory clock. What could be causing this?

Ah yeah I've had that happen as well. I fixed it using driver sweeper and reinstalling the latest Catalysts but you might have to run something like MSI Afterburner and some profiles to manually knock it up there if it just won't stay. Try using RadeonPro with profiles that activate Afterburner and you should be good.

Ok thanks Ill try that, though why wont it at least run at stock speeds without the need to overclock, is it an issue with the card itself or is it somehow related to the drivers?
