I think they did, and I like it. Those slides from a while back showed that the 4870 would only be competing with the 9800 gtx. However, it looks like it's actually competing slightly ahead of the gtx260, and close to gtx280 levels. I know no official benchmarks have been released, but the latest one here...

nvidia=pwned well i guess i wait till a better card then the gtx 260 comes out... i was planning on getting two of them not now... lol they are now.. more expencive, and not as high performing and thats the 4870 512mb version...wow.. hows the 1gb gddr5 gonna perform?
