ATI Open3D Interview

- display (either computer monitor or tv) only needs hdmi 1.4a or displayport 1.2 requirements
- does this mean support for 60hz displays to? (if you want to deal with the possible flicker)
- going to be a problem for current 120hz monitor owners
- likely cheaper non proprietary glasses
- 5000 series and high end 4000 series will be compatible (assuming 4800s for sure)
- Likely out within this year

Interesting read. Not sure that displayport is catching on as quickly as they would like.

IMHO the 3D thing is about those glasses. A friend of mine purchased one of the new 3D TV's and 2 pairs of the glasses. We watched the World Cup finale on the comcast 3d channel. While it was pretty cool, it was def annoying as well. The glasses just feel bulky to my face. As I cannot wear contacts lenses. Those glasses are a no go for me. I do love my eyefinity setup though.

Same boat here. 3d is kind of cool, if a bit faddish, but the glasses are a deal breaker and the sacrifices one needs to make in visual settings is more than I would like. Eyefinity and Nfinity are the shit though.
