I just installed my ATI RADEON 9600XT (AGP) and installed Mutlimedia Center 8.0. I run PC Check and get the following errors:

1. Not MMX architecture
I am running a Pentium 4 2.8GHZ Processot with Hyper Threading

2. Audio Clock Inaccuracy > (+ or -) 0.2%
I am playing DOOM3 and many other 3D Games and my Audio is not out of sync.

3. DirectX components are not installed properly
Just to make it happy I re-installed DirectX 9.0c twice. It still complains.

4. Capture driver INF files are not installed
I installed all the newest drivers from ATI.com. Yet, it says my capture drivers are missing.

Now everything runs perfect on my system with the new card. Why does Mutlimedia Center say all these things are wrong with my system? Do I even need Mutlimedia Center? I don't have use for any of it's functions...

I am running:

2.8GHZ P4 w/ HT
512 of DDR RAM
ATI RADEON 9600 XT
DIRECTX 9.0c
120GB Hard Drive
SoundMAX Digital Sound Card

Thanks in advance.

Don't fret. I have an ATi TV Wonder (PCI) and it always fails those 'tests' on my system, even though everything is up to speed. Just bad software, dont worry about it.

Well I am glad to hear im not the only one who thinks the Mutlimedia Center is poor software. I took it seriously and thought the card and or my system was messed up. ATI's Website was next to worthless when it came to shedding any light on the issues.

Things like replace your processor and blah blah blah.

In conclusion, I have UNINSTALLED Multimedia Center and all other ATI Software to save space as they serve no purpose. All I run is ATI Control Panel and the newest drivers now.

Actually 9.1 [free download from ATI, one should REALLY use the latest version of a software before complaining about how bad something that is almost a year old is] is pretty good. No crashes, good [nearly excellent] capture quality. Excellent PVR abilities. And to most its just plain easy to use.

Are there better packages out there? Sure for those who like alternative os's there is always the great "mythTV" and "freevo" and there are a billion for the pc [though no decent free ones that i could find] so if you want better, switch os, or pay for something you DO like.
