ATI Mobility drivers

I have a mobility 9700 in my new laptop and my question is are all radeons compatable with with the catalyst drivers because i was not able to find anything on the ATI website that specified there is a difference. Im guessing that there arent different drivers for the mobilities but i want to be sure before i install new drivers. Any help would be great thanks
 
You're not supposed to install desktop Catalysts on laptops because the laptop drivers are supposedly customized by the maker of the laptop. Somewhere on ATI's site it tells you to download your display drivers only from the laptop maker. Unfortunately, the laptop makers are usually slow to put out the latest drivers from ATI so their drivers tend to be out of date. You can usually run the omega drivers on a laptop if you want some more recent drivers from ATI. Make a system restore point before trying the omegas out. Some people have problems with them.
