I have had my XFX 5870 card since launch and I haven't ever had a GSOD. I guess I just got lucky.
still getting mine here at stock clocks. the XFX bios fix does seem to have "fix" it but it also downclocked my memory 22%. I think I am going to RMA the thing.
I bought an XFX 5870 about a month ago, and have not had any GSOD issues yet. I'm running 10.3 drivers under Win7 x64 Ultimate. I was reading up on the issues around the time I made my purchase and was very worried, but I guess the issues are resolved, or I am just lucky.
I have an XFX 5870 XXX... It now has GSOD issues up the a$$... (now stable at desktop, GSODs when gaming... used to be the opposite 'til 10.3s)
What's this XFX BIOS "fix"? Didn't know XFX had one...
its a bios update that basically down clocks your memory and ups the gpu speed a little. it a pretty good drop on the memory as well, 22%. it seems to work but I payed for an overclocked card not a down clocked one. so I am going to test it out a little further and then probably RMA the card
Hmph.
Since mine worked fine in games 'til 10.3s, downclocking my card as a fix makes no sense...
My overall experience still points at utterly craptastic drivers, so I'm refusing BIOS updates and RMAs 'til... Well, 'til Nvidia has a better option...
ATI's only been making problems worse for me...
