hey guys I have an asus 4850 and have the ati drivers installed but I see that asus released a newer driver version(than the one that came with the card).

Does anyone have any experience as to which one is better?

I would highly doubt that Asus tweaks their drivers. Chances are that they are nothing more than a newer Catalyst driver that Asus has verfied. I have the same 4850 and I'm running the ATi drivers with no problem, including using the Smart Doctor util.

im running them too and they seem very stable. The smart fan software and overclockng product is very nice as well.

Always use the official drivers provided by the GPU manufacturer. ASUS' custom drivers probably don't provide any performance benefit and you'll get better support and reliability from the official set.

Doesn't the Asus card come with a utility for tweaking the fan speed etc? I assume that utility requires you to use Asus's custom drivers? If it works with the standard drivers, or you don't need this functionality, go with the standard driver instead. New versions are probably released sooner since they don't have to go through Asus testing and verification, branding etc.
