Ati drivers and .NET?

I just Recently bought a 1900XT from newegg. Been outta the ATI loop awhile....but Iv been hearing nothing bad shiet about the new drivers and you NEED MS .NET installed to even use the drivers?.

My question is, Is there drivers out there (omega) that uses the old Control panel, and I dont need to install MS .NET?....

The new Omegas use ATi Tray Tools as the control panel, so .NET isn't required. You can use ATi Tray Tools and ATITool with any ATi drivers, though, which is currently what I'm doing. Just grab driver set and WDM drivers (if required).

Shaved a fair amount of time off my boot, that's for sure.
 
I tried to jump the Tray Tools wagon couple weeks ago, but lack of overclocking was a real let down. Don´t know if its fixed in newer versions, might be. Ofcourse I could have tried ATItool but was too lazy and installed .net 2.0 and 6.5 ccc catalysts back.
 
For me ATI tray tools says overclocking is disabled. How do i enable it?
 
The feature is disabled on purpose by the program creator. You just have to use ATItool or some other program for OC or wait for a new version of TrayTools.
 
Somewhat off topic here but I'm new to ATI and was wondering what drivers/programs i'm going to need what my card gets here (x1800xt 512) I got a zalman 700cu so I will be overclocking. Thanks.
 
Just to give an Update, I got my 1900XT Today.

I did install the omega drivers 6.5 version...and EVERY SINGLE GAME locked up. So I said fuck it and downloaded the new 6.6 CATS....and not 1 single problem in any game I have.

WOW
Prey Demo
Oblivion (OMG HDR+AA IS SOOOOOOOOOOO WORTH IT)
and GRAW (nice graphics)

Also IQ is so much better then my 7800GT. Its night and day...

Glad to be back in the ATI camp (previous was a 9700pro)
