ATI drivers and audio problem

I am trying to install my new HD4850 I uninstalled my old Nvidia driver ran a driver cleaner The ATi driver installed but now windows wants the microsoft cabinet file for UAA audio that was gone after I installed the realtek audio. THis is ticking me off.as windows can't find the file. Another case of ATI Crappy drivers? This kind of crap should not happen!
 
try popping the ati cd in the drive and have it look there? could be it trying to install the sound poirtion of the card (has 7.1ch audio via hdmi if im correct)
 
had to go to gigabyte and download the microsoft uaa driver got the audio problem fixed. Now I can run BIOSHOCK but not 3DMARK06. I don't know whats going on, but i'm seriously thinking of returning this card to Bestbuy. I don't need this hassle.
 
3dmark wouldn't run for me either until I installed the hotfix from February.

I can't get CCC to detect my LCD at all.
 
Just installed Catalyst 8.6 drivers despite WARNINGS from Avsforum users about breaking PowerDVD video playback. I can confirm now it does break PowerDVD 7.3 and/or 8.0. Also, 1080p@24 does not seem to use UVD in both 8.5 and 8.6 so slower systems (like A64s or P4s) will get chugged and owned while doing high-resolution video playback.
 
It does appear that ati took a note out of nvidia's playbook and delivered us the world's shittiest drivers with their nice new shiny, fast cards. They best be getting on the stick and getting some proper drivers released or I will continue to vent my anger on these forums, make endless enemies amongst the fanboys and generally make an ass out of myself. ;) I will be keeping the card though because of its potential.
