I just got an MSI 9800Pro with the green pcb and whenever I get the lastest catalyst drivers my computer gets unstable. In games my gpu will just die sortof like and my mnoniter will go into standby and I'll have to manual reboot. When I use 4.2 drivers and below it works fine. But I want to use the latest drivers for optimal performance. What could be causing that since newer drivers are usually better for stability issues? Fastwrite on or off? Help.
 
When you installed the latest catalyst drivers, was it on a fresh system install so that it didnt have any previous set of drivers to conflict with? If not try going to this link here and run it to uninstall all ati software/drivers. Once you do that download the latest catalyst 4.9s from this link here and install them. If this doesnt apply to you though lmk. Oh and for your system, I think fastwrites are recommended to be on. Make sure your mainboard drivers are also up-to-date and agp is working at 8x.
 
Where do I go the get the lastest Motherboard drivers for my MSI K8T Neo FSR? I've always used the ones on the CD and that may be why I stuck with the 3.7 cats for so long. Thanks for your help.
 
Updating all of my motherboard drivers seemed to fix it. Thanks gordon.
 
I've always loved ATi and never had any problems until now when a simple mainboard update fixed the problem. I just wish the X800XT's were cheaper and easier to get ahold of...

yeah, mobo drivers are important to stay up to date on , and as was already mentioned the motheboard manufacturer is usually behind the chipset manufacturer in driver sets..
