ATI Display port problem??

Hey guys I have a 5870 and hooked up to 3 monitors. Every time I try to turn the computer on when all 3 are plugged in the video card goes on 100% fan and doesn't display any graphics. I'm forced to hold down the power button to turn the PC off just to make it stop.

If I unplug the display port cable from the video card before I turn on the PC and plug it back in after startup, everything's fine. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Right now the 3rd monitor sits unplugged b/c of this issue. I'm debating whether I should go SLI (for 3 monitors) or use Eyefinity, but this issues is a real annoyance.
 
Sounds like a hardware problem or a bug in the card's bios. Is it overclocked at all? Try resetting your mobo bios back to defaults and see if that helps, maybe flash your mobo bios.

Also, specs needed :)
 
Card's not overclocked, and mobo's on stock bios. I have a 890fx UD5 mobo, 1055T cpu, 8gb ddr3 1600 corsair ram, and an Asus 5870.

My friend who has a sapphire 5850 on an i7 860 system also has the same problem.
 
may you try checking the DP cable?

My Dell U2311H works fine with DP from my reference HD5870 (primary - and only - output, however).
