ATI CCC doesn't support my 4870

When I install ATI CCC and then try to run it I get the following message.

The feature in the ATI CCC basic view doe not support the currently active graphics processor.

To launch the Advanced View, click on the Advanced View button. Otherwise, click Exit to close the dialog box.

I click Advanced View and it closes. Nothing else happens. What's going on?

It seems uninstalling 8.9s and installing 8.7s fixed the problem.

At least your CCC is responsive, with the 8.9s i cant even make changes in it.

ATI makes good graphics products, but they really need to get their s**t together where drivers are concerned. Software, being what it is, I can certainly understand that not everything will be compatible....but they seem to have more incompatibility than most with their own driver installs as it relates to their own graphics cards. There is just too much disparity from one user configuration to another. It's almost as if they don't test but a select few chipsets.

QFT: I would love a 1gb 4870 but ATIs board partners do not hold a candle to EVGA etc. not to mention the CCC issues that exist....decisions decisions....
