Yet another driver release from ATI.

Also for some reason ATI changed they url scheme and I'm unable to give you
direct links for release notes. It's pointless to quote them as anyone can easily
reach them from the above link.

Though this is interesting feature...


1080p HDTV custom mode

This release of Catalyst™ 1080p HDTV display mode. This feature will be available for display devices that use an HDMI connector and is available under the Windows XP and Vista operating systems.
 
hmm, i was having some issues with a 2600xt on a 1080p screen. samsung 4071f

it bounced/twitched - I got rid of it because of the issue.
 
Hm. That 1080p HDMI mode is intriguing.

Any word on whether these can replace the 8.3 hotfix drivers?
 
Those are some pretty decent performance improvements:

• Lost Planet DX10: Performance increases from 5 to 35% on systems containing
an ATI Radeon™ HD 3xx0 series of product

• Stalker DX9: Performance increases by 20-50% when HDR is enabled in the
game; across all ATI Radeon™ HD38x0 series of products

• World in Conflict DX10: Performance increases up to 25% on systems containing
an ATI Radeon™ HD36x0 and/or an ATI Radeon™ 38x0 series of
product. Higher performance gains are noticed on systems contianing an ATI
Radeon™ 3870x2 series of product

I use the latest 7.xx series of the ati omega driver, because all of the 8.xx series breaks overlay rendering for videos.
 
Uh-oh. I uninstalled the 8.3 hotfix drivers, rebooted, attempted to install the 8.5s... says I don't have a recognized driver, setup aborts. I've got an AGP HD3850.

I wonder if ATi doesn't like XP SP3...
 
It's official, the 8.5s either don't like AGP or don't like XP SP3.
 
I had to install twice, but they seem to work well..

No worries here so far.
