So these are the official ATI 5.8 drivers. But they arnt going to help with any techinical support until tomorrow when they are officially release?

CCC makes me want to PUKE!
I hate it's GUI
If nVidia had nothing else on ATI it would be its Driver interface!
But who am I to turn down a new version of CCC.
I own their card, I love it... I am a fan boy...

Well I installed them. I just wish I knew what they improved in and what problems they fixed.

Oh well, when they get officially released tomorrow, ill look on the ATI site and find out what they improved in and problems they fixed.

Two huge thumbs up from me. Still three CLI.exes but they are all under 5MB each even with the CCC open, and CCC opens UBER fast now.

If this is the only thing they've changed, its definitely worth it.

Sweet under 5mb each? Now I might put CCC back on my computer instead of closing the 30 mb CLI files at startup every time...

For me, with CCC closed there are two CLI.exes.

One is 4,028K the other is 4,312K.

With CCC open there are three, 2,076K , 2,180K, and 2,500K.

Nice.

yes! woot! who said ati doesnt fix their probs in a timely matter.

I actually dumped ATi's control panel products all together and just use ATi Tray Tools.

its the afternoon NOW and still no drivers at ATI.com

I know, I'm starting to get pissed. They usually roll drivers out before the 10th of each month and it's already the 17th. What the hell are they doing over there? We hear nothing from them and they're late with their drivers. My mind is already made up on what Video card to get for Christmas.

68 points gain in 3dmark05 at stock speeds. gonna OC it tomorow for a new higher score

Offtopic: Holy crap, RIT's Liquid X? Man, this forum has everything :p

Ontopic: I'll have to give these drivers a shot this weekend.

Awesome.
I will be looking forward to it.

Don't eat the furniture, it is made from PEOPLE!

well, I installed the CP version, but I know that ATI's site is now plugging only the CCC version. Is there really much difference? If so, how and what? Does CCC require more system resources than the CP version??

Also, anyone seen any Betafield2 performance increases? I haven't tried it yet...(plus I'm still waiting for that 1.3 patch)

Thanks

I installed em and so far the texture bug seems better in BF2.. CCC requires .net framework and I just dont want that running..CCC does seem to add a few more processes and who needs a few more...my damn HP printer adds about 6 and I hate that!!!!

Don't be a dick to yourself, or even at ATi. They are very busy, and I tell you, ATI will cause another of Nvidia's FX-era to come back. Patience is virtue

Anyone know if these drivers mess anything up with UT2004 (D3D) or UT (OpenGL)? It's been a while since I updated the catalyst drivers and I'm trying to find out if the 5.7s or the 5.8s are better for UT2004 and UT. Thank you.

Damn, these killed CS Source performance for me, I get really low FPS areas in Dust, Dust2, Italy, wherever. It's just random places too, around the fruits in Italy, etc.

I believe they prefer to be called "homosexuals"...try being a little more sensitive next time.

:p

On the topic, this seems like a deal-breaker to me. Considering that CS:S is pretty much the only demanding game that I play, I'll just stick with what I have.

These drivers resolved some shut down issues I was having. Some stupid 'broadcast event' window deal would hang at shut down everytime. It's gone now and so are some of the huge CCC .exe's in the task manager.

The CCC panel works like a dream now. Very fast. Very few hangs.

Gaming and benching performance stayed the same or went down a few points or one fps. No biggie cause the visual quality is there and so is stability.
