So i know quite a bit but i'm lacking a tad in the video department and how to get the best picture quality etc etc, so the card does H.264 decodeing but do i need anything other than standard drivers to achieve that? I know ATi's website trys to sell you a cyberlink plugin but that's only for the one program right, not required for programs like VLC? Also is VLC media player alone good quality for DVD's or can better be had?
 
You need a program that supports hardware H.264 decoding, otherwise it will simply be offloaded onto the CPU (which is what VLC does). I think PowerDVD and WinDVD are the only programs (apart from things like dedicated media centre OS's Sage/Myth) that support hardware H.264.

Bump, anybody have any ideas on the best way to view video? DVD's and H.264. I have an X1900XTX

Umm....Jeez, I'm pretty sure QT Pro does it, but nothing else.
So, yeah, it's pay-only programs, by the looks of it.
