I refuse to answer your question because it offers no specifics and details. There is no "Fastest Card" Right now. Some cards do better in some games, others do better in other games.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree. My friend has this paired with a 939 A64 3200+ and it owns.
 
Fastest single card=X850XT-PE

Fastest Possible Card(s)=2 6800Ultras in SLI

I'd go with the X850XT-PE, Even if I had the money. I would save the $600-$800 or so and get a better CPU+Ram+PSU+Case

No, dude, hook up an 8meg Monster 3D to a 2mb Trident VGA card. It can only do 3D acceleration at 640x480, but most monitors don't go higher than that huge resolution. Think of the Quake and Descent frames you'll get with that winning combo! I think the Pentium 133 (with MMX!) will be a bottleneck on that baby.

Well maybe when ATI gets around to making a PCI-E -> AGP bridge, those cards will then be running on mature AGP motherboards that tend to be more stable. As for nVidia, nobody really knows.

afaik there weren't any desktop P133's with MMX. for the desktop, that debuted in the P55C 166MMX. There WERE mobile P133's with MMX, but they came in a tape carrier package, not a PPGA/CPGA.

weird. i remember at the time, i worked at a computer store, and we'd get intel reps coming in and demoing the latest tech to familiarize the department with it when we sold it...

our rep came in with a 166mmx and told us it was the latest and greatest, and that no slower intel chip had it. where'd you get the 133?

God, I don't remember. I just remember that I had to have it because Final Fantasy 7 needed either 166MHz w/MMX and no 3D acceleration, or 133MHz w/ MMX and 3D acceleration. If it didnt have MMX, it wouldnt run. There was a local computer hardware store that I probably got it from.

Maybe the 133MMX came out after the 166MMX? Perhaps they were 166's that couldnt cut it?

Well you were right about them being mobile chips, it's just that they did make PPGA socket 7's that worked in desktop platforms.

The reps were probably misinformed or ignorant. After all, they probably weren't the actual engineers who made the CPU and didn't have the latest info. Some reps are really stupid.
