I've got 2 questions:
Is there anyone here using the 8500 HDTV adapter?
Is there anyone here using the 9800 A-I-W and HDTV?

I can't get the 8500 with the adapter to work any higher than 640 x 480.

I'm using the 8500 with the VGA adapter to drive my HDTV. All the HDTV resoultions are available in the driver settings. Are you using the VGA or the DVI adapter?
 
8500 here with the VGA-HDTV adapter with no problems. Omega Cat 3.9 drivers. Are you sure you have only the dip switches your tv does enabled? Have you tried selecting a different output(480i,480p,etc.) on the "component" menu under "Displays"? Changing that may give you different resolution options.
