Hello. I am looking to purchase an ATI X1900XTX for my gaming system. Fine, you say, so what's your question?

Well,simply put, I am one of the rare losers who has the Dell 3007, 30" LCD. My current card, a Nvidia (shun!) 7800GT works fine with it, of course, but a little lacking in the pure "guts" side of thing.

My question is this: With my Nvidia 7800GT, I had to install a special Dell driver, followed by a special EVGA driver, to get the monitor to run at the native resolution of 2560x1600.

How will it work with ATI? I can install the Dell thing, of course, but what about driver support? I know all of the "horror" stories with ATI drivers, etc, but has anyone actually run one of the 3007s with any of the more recent Catalyst releases, and have any stories?

My friend is another of those losers...he has two of those Dell 30's and yes, the X1900XTX drives both of them at native res 2560 simultaneously...and looks awesome doing it. Games at native are very smooth to say the least. Even with 2-4x FSAA.

He is using the 6.3 with control panel and ATT.

You wouldnt be going wrong.
 
Okay, fair enough.

I've just read a lot of horror stories about people getting their monitors working, then being basically unable to upgrade drivers without jumping through hoops. As fun as it would be to have to go through a hell of a lot work with each driver upgrade, I'd like to avoid that.

That being said, I did just upgrade from the EVGA drivers to the newest nvidia ones, with no issues. But, I also ordered a x1900xt, so we'll see what the red team has to offer me for awhile :D
