Just bought some refurb'd AGP cards from ATI based on a thread over in the Hot Deals forum. One of the cards I bought was spec'd as being a Radeon 9800. No SE, no XT, no Pro. The specs on the ATI website list the plain 9800 as having 8 pipes with a core of 325 MHz and a mem clock of 580 MHz. Here's my dilemma - when checking the card's properties with ATITool, it shows to be a 9800SE with only 4 pipes and a default core of 277 MHZ and default mem clock of 270 MHz. I can unlock the extra pipes with the patched driver ( which I shouldn't have to do), but the core won't get anywhere near 325 MHZ. I assume the mem rate is doubled, so the mem clock is only 540 MHz.
I kinda feel like ATI should have sent a card that could meet the specs of the GPU as they are noted on their website. Am I confused or should I gripe to ATI?
