Bought an ATI 9800(128MB, 256-bit)OEM White Box one week ago, installed it with the CATALYST Windows XP 5.1 Driver. Played CS1.6 well for 5 days, then this game started to crash(freeze) with no error messages every time I launch it. Reinstall either the graphic card(and driver) or CS1.6, there was no luck. No CPU or graphic card overclock. Go back with my old video card(ATI Radeon 7000), everything is fine. Any idear what was the problem? TIA.

hi , noone is replying here these days on the forums, - gay.

I'll help you ;)

I have a radeon9700pro and i used to play alot of warcraft ( still do sometimes ) and counterstrike source. I expierinced weird crashes, resulting from freezing screens to system reboots.

i opened my case in the summer and played with a fan blowing on my case.
everything was allright, no more crashes. Now i bought the zalman 80D heatsink. + Fan ( without a fan it would still generate too much heat ). Yes , your problem is overheat related , plus i recommend you download the newest catalyst drivers. 3.10 works the best.
www.teamradeon.com << you can download it here. ( atleast it does for my radeon9700p )

I'd recommend , you get some serious cooling on your radeon. And all your problems will evaporate.

in advance,

Thanks alot, TriGgEr.HaPpY. You're probably right, since I'd noticed that the noise from my computer became much louder after installing 9800. I'll try to cool it down.

you may also want to do a complete uninstall of all the video card drivers, run drivercleaner (free, google it) and then reinstall the drivers.
