I installed a card that came from a fried system and I am wondering if the card is dead or if I am missing something. Maybe there is something special I have to do?

I installed the card in my nForce2 mobo. Yes, I attached a molex connector to the card. When I boot up, I get random bands/blocks of color. At the Windows login screen I can tell one particular group of blocks is the mouse pointer.

Is it dead for sure? I have never used an ATI card before and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Am I SOL or what? Come on ATI guys help me out here. If it's possible to get this card working, I'd like to know.

there's nothing special

you seat it in the AGP slot, make sure it's seated tight, plug in the additional power connector, and that's all you need to do

sounds to be me like the card might be toast, but to be safe try it in another machine
