ATI 9700 pro Problems

I recently got a 9700 pro. Its one of the first model that had problems with some motherboards. The problem is that I get no screen with the 9700 pro.

Here are my specs:
P3-s 1.4Ghz
512MB DDR PC2700
ASUS TUA266 (AGP pro 4x/2x)
300WATT PS

At first when I put in the 9700 pro, I forgot to plug in the power connector, which I then got a message on my screen to plug in the power. Well, I plug in the power connector (same one as the one for the floppies), but when I turn on the computer I get nothing. I'm not sure weather the 9700 pro won't work with my motherboard, that I plug in the wrong power connector, or the 9700 pro is dead. I'm hoping that you guys can help me out.

Thanks.

I've had a problem with this card on my old system; I boot up and the screen goes blank after the Windows XP splash screen. The only way to get around it was to load safemode then reboot out of safemode into Windows and it worked fine.

I dont have the problem with my new motherboard now, but I was wondering if you have the same thing.

I've tried it on my other older computer.

AMD Athlon 900MHz
512MB SDRAM PC133
ASUS K7V-RM
300WATT PS

I also got the same results. Granted, both my motherboards are very old, but I'm pretty sure the 9700 pro was design to work with p3 and k7 class motherboards.

Alright, get a load of this!
I just test my 9700 pro on my extremely old Asus K7M (good old K7M), and my 9700 pro booted up with no problem. Heck I'm currently typing this message with the 9700 pro.

Here is my spec:
AMD Athlon TBird 1GHz
256MB SDRAM PC100
ASUS K7M
300WATT PS

The only big difference I notice between my K7M and the TUA266 and K7V-RM is that K7M doesn't have the AGP Pro (just plain AGP) specifications. Both the TUA226 and K7V-RM have AGP Pro 4x/2x. I'm wondering if the 9700 pro is incompatible with AGP Pro. Also I don't feel like wasting the 9700 pro on my K7M.

I've had my Radeon 9700 on 14 diffrent boards with no problems at all. Never experienced any form of problem with that graphics card ever! But you have some very old technology there, conflicts occur.. But are you sure your gfx ain't fried

ya well ive had a proble accuring with my 9700 pro, but it most likely has nothing to do with YOUR problem. But I feel i might as well post this, since I've hear others with the same problem.

The 9700 pro is not the most stable card out there, trust me.
