My roomate needs a new video card for his computer and we have found a used 4200 for $60 shipped, or Frys is having a sale today on ATI 9200 w/128 megs of ram for $50. Which is better?

Personal Preference: Get the TI4200... was a great card for me while I used it... if you can get the MSI... it overclocked very nicely

The 4200, no doubt. This card had the same core as the flagship model, the 4600, so it was a real hit with the overclocking community. If you overclock the 4200, it will knock the socks off of the 9200.

agreed. TI4200. not that that radeon is bad or anything, but for the difference in price the GeForce is way better.

I agree with all of the recommendations for the GeForce4 (not Geflop4) Ti4200. The Radeon 9200 is basically an 8x AGP version of the Radeon 9000 non-Pro - and although the 9000 and 9200 series are based on the technology used in the 8500 series, even the 9000 Pro proved slower than an 8500LE (aka 9100), let alone the original 8500. I'd figure that the 9200 would perform roughly equivalent to an "8500LELELE".

Even after all these years the Ti4200 is a great DX8 card. With DX9 titles it still runs them pretty fast. Much better than the Entry level ATi and current Nvidia offerings.

I'm an ATi fanboy, but like everyone else, I must say that the 4200 is a better choice. But it is used, so I'd be cautious.
