when I click on the vista 64 bit though he still links back to 8.12... guess I'll check back in a couple minutes.

Looks that way. Putting references to the driver on the website indicates that they're getting ready to post them. At the very least, it seems they've "gone gold" of sorts.

Here's hoping the 9.1s get posted tonight.
 
Here's hoping they install without bsods and fix the multi mon while o/c issue that the 8.12HF did not.
 
I wish you could guess the download URL, but they have these weird naming schemes with odd numbers in the end that makes it impossible to guess. So they may very well be up on a server already, but they just haven't updated the links on the page

Haha, great minds think alike. I tried modifying some of the URLs just to see if I got a hit. No luck. :p
 
I found out the build number is 8012, however I get an error 403 whenever trying to enter that

Anybody got release notes for this? I wanna see if it supports my switchable graphics cards.
 
Personally, I hope it brings some single-card gains to the table. Not that I really need any gains at the moment, but they're always nice to have.
 
I saw this on VR Zone fourm. The OP knew it linked to the 8.12s.

The 9.1's include a flux capacitor, a time machine like on Napolean Dynamite, an invisibility cape, a fro wig, and you can hide your weed in them too! :D

WTF? How come the link redirects you to 8.12 drivers for? What kind of game is ATI pulling here?

Hopefully we'll be able to get the new driver soon, curious to see what kind of improvements the 9.1 will offer.

no performance gain but decrease from what I am experiencing right now...

4-5 fps gone in Crysis...

and 10fps drop in L4D....

what spec do you have? I heard that 9.1 is optimized for quad core processors.

Q6600 @ 3.6G, Q9550 @ 4.3G

both rig got same problem

even my E6320 @ 3.2G turn out the same...

so I guess there were some problem going on that they miss ...

Not quite. The zip file in the 4850 X2 subsection contains the 8.12 drivers. Go to Sapphire's front page and look for the "Popular Downloads" links on the right. That's where the 9.1s are uploaded, apparently. I'm downloading now, but the speed is absolutely crawling--4kbps. Yes, four.

Alright, apparently the drivers that just hit the Interwebs is version 8.573, but the final Catalyst 9.1s will be version 8.58. So we may be getting excited over a dud version.
 
Edit: These are 8.573 dated 01/13/2009, and according to Terphen above we should be getting 8.58. Wait and see I guess.


Don't know what's going on with ATI. Main Download Page has been showing Cat. 9.1 since yesterday evening , but it still links to old Cat. 8.12 even now. :mad:

Don't shoot the messenger. I found this posted in another forum. Take it for what it's worth.

Here what game.amd.com administrator say "The driver page will be updated later today. The 9.1 package is version 8.57.3, not the same as the hotfix drivers though as these fix the 6 - 8GB install problem and the previous hotfixes dont. The hotfixes are faster in various games however due to the multi-gpu threading which wont be in the official drivers til later.

If you dont want to wait, the drivers are already on various other sites."

I've updated to the 9.1 on TPU's website but I can't open CCC. Anyone else has this problem? On the previous drivers it worked fine :confused:
