Had been running fine for the past year or so. Just upgraded everything but the video card and now I'm having issues running games. Bought a Soyo P4VGM, clean install, runs Prime95 no probs, Memtest several passes no probs, tried Cats 4.3-4.6.

I either get a "unreadable memory at address......" or the system reboots randomly.

The only 2 games I really play anymore are MVP Baseball 2003 and Warcraft 3 they are fully patched.

I have no problems with artifacts, distortion, etc.... Just random lockups or reboots in newer games.

Is this possibly bad RAM on the video card??? Anyway of testing the card itself???
 
I doubt its the video card, but for assurance try another video card in the system, if you still have the prob try replacing the memory with another stick, just because you pass memtest doesnt mean your memory is fine (I have had a similar prob in the past, tried memtest passed, and the prob was that the memory was incompatible with the board)
 
I tried two other sticks of generic RAM (all I've got laying around) and I have the same problems
 
Hmm, check all of your fans and make sure nothing is overheating, also check another video card or check to see if your gives problems in anyother computers
 
Could be a short, i have also seen failing cards give those symptoms.
 
When you upgraded, did you significantly increase the current the system needed? When you run a 3D app, the extra strain on the system is just enough to occasionally push it over the edge. In other words, it's not the 8500 at all; it's probably a marginal power supply.
 
It is a cheap 350W PSU.....I know I know.....

Anyways, I had the RAM set to use the SPD timings....I backed them off a bit and so far so good. Unfortunately Mushkin doesn't provide much info on their webpage about compatible mobos so I'll just have to try it out for a while and see what happens.
 
Try running AGP 2x, and make sure fast writes are DISABLED. 8500's hate fast writes.
