ATI 6.5 Catalyst released

Overvolt> My impression is that only the x1800 gto's now are offically no mastercard enabled xfire. (check my sig) and im using 6.5's. And for anyone that is wondering xfire x1800 gto's works great. 6x adaptive AA/Temporal AA/ 16x AFHQ i still get 40 fps in wow while in Stranglethorn Vale. Have not tried obivion yet.

I thought they were good except I noticed the driver hangs...I was playing Q4 a while, video froze, I alt tabbed out, mace was running, go tback into game and it played fine. After exiting the game, the system was darn near unresponsive, had to reboot to clear it up.

This never happenned with 6.3's

Anyone else having problems within the CCC at the 3D preview? All I get is the top 1/3 of the preview screen, the rest is black, where the car is supposed to be. I didn't have this problem with the 6.4s. I'm using a X800GTO2 and a X600 with the 6.5 x64 cats. It happens on any of my monitors, whether there being driven by the x800 or the x600.

Update. This set enables Adaptive Anti-Aliasing for your card, which you probably want.

great! thanks for the help.
Now...is there a CP version only or am I going to have to get the CCC version??
:(

so I updated to cat 6.5 from 6.4 and I started getting a weird white/blue corrupted image after windows loads. It just flashes on the screen for about 2 seconds and fades... whats that all about?

x1900 Crossfire Master to pair up with my current x1900xtx and new cat drivers = :D next week for my birthday June 2nd.

Nothing like treating yourself to some dual card generated high powered eye candy.

Yeah, the 6.5 is great for my X1900XTX too. Scoring 99 points more in 3Dmark06 and it runs 1 or 2 degrees celcius cooler.

Anyone seeing a crash when running a .wmv or .mov file with these new drivers?

So does anyone know if there is a CP version for this or am I finally going to have to use that awful CCC???
For 6.5 I mean.

If anyone could post a link or instructions on just how to have the CP would be great.

thanks

Just download the 6.5 display drivers, then download the last CP they made (just the CP installer), install the drivers then the CP and it should work.

These drivers pissed me off. I uninstalled all the drivers using ATI uninstaller, and then installed the 6.5's. Windows would NOT boot, and I had to do a clean windows install....annoying to say the least.

Now everything is now great, drivers work well, but its pretty shitty to reinstall windows.

Just updated to them yesterday.. All is well.. Whatever problem my setup had with the 6.4 release is fixed in the 6.5 release.. The 6.4 drivers just did not get along with my x1900xt...

This seems to be mainly an issue to the way the Electronic Arts writes their code for shadows. I also have the same problem, but only in games likes BF2 and NFSMW. All other games, even the new(er) ones, like Far Cry and HL2 all run the shadows fine.

For NFSMW, setting the shadows to Medium fixes it.

In Bf2 you have to have the lighting set to medium, if it is on low, when you set shadows it will automatically switch it to off.

Anyone know if it's worth it for me to upgrade my drivers from 5.8 to 6.5 for UT2004, UT, Doom3, Quake4, Unreal2 and Postal2. I'm guessing these will be the games I play the rest of this year. I'm using a 9800Pro 256MB card right now. Thank you.

For a 9800 there's no real need.

Its the ATI T200 Unified AVStream Driver. I had this problem, and had to install the 6.4's with CCC to get it to install.

What I did was to install cat 6.5s, then simply point the device driver installation to search for the ATI T200 driver in a folder where I kept an unpacked set of WDM drivers that had them included.

I'd do it if there is even a 1fps gain in quake4... I can't imagine playing quake4 on a 9800(for MP anyways). I remember reading about some small gains in Q4 with one of the newer drivers.

I only play UT series games online anyway. I'll probably upgrade my ATI drivers sometime this year, just not sure when yet though.

Is he refering to the temporal anti-aliasing?

My real question is Adaptive AA is different then temporal AA, correct? And would Adaptive AA now be available in game menus (like HL2), or only through forcing via CCC?

No, he is referring to Adaptive. It was available since someone discovered the reg hack a while ago...then later it was added to tray tools.

AA It has to be forced to use it with HL2 from what I remember.

I'm experiencing a crash to desktop while playing FarCry with this driver. I do have the Chuck patch installed for this..........so maybe that is the problem.
