ATI 5970 - Persistent green specs

I get green specks in both 2-d and 3-d applications. Looks like a bunch of pixels flickering on and off. Always green. They go in and out. Restarting the PC will usually fix the problem for a little while.

I have tried replacing the mobo and the graphics card, however that does not resolve the issue. I have also tried many different drivers.



My monitor is a DELL 3007-WFPHC @ 2560x1600
 
I have this issue sometimes as well. Usually anything that will refresh the display will clear it. Restarting the PC, changing resolution, enabling or disabling the bezel compensation in Eyefinity usually resolves the issue. Typically I've noticed that RDP sessions and moving stuff across multiple monitors tends to aggravate the issue. Replacing your motherboard would have been a serious long shot. Not sure why you'd have banked on that fixing the problem.

I just chalk it up to crappy drivers, terrible BIOS ROMs, etc. Some driver versions did it more than others. It rarely happens anymore.
 
I had this issue and it was due to a crappy DVI-D cable. Switched it out and the problem went away.
This seems to be an issue with the 3007WFP-HC monitor. Quality cables have to be used.

A good way to tell is when you have an all black or dark grey background. If green lines/specs appear, it's your cheaply made DVI-D cable.

I paid $25 for a DVI-D cable at Compusa and it was inferior to the $10 cable from Newegg.

Monoprice has great cables also. Bought a $10 10ft. displayport cable from them with no issues.
