i read somewhere ati is Releasing a 5830 on the 25th. any word on the card? just wondering since tomorrow is the 25th

I've been hearing that performance will be around the level of the 4890 or maybe a little above. The RC2 betas for Cat 10.1 had three entries for the 5800 series so its likely that the 5830 is that third entry. Price wise I've seen a lot of people say $200 or less.

yeah i was wondering cause im considering crossfire 5830's. i hear the 25th but i just read that were pushed back to Feb 5th

800-1200 stream processors, 1gb gddr5 with a 256 bit bus for under $200...

Anyone else think that sounds sexy?

well price wise we can hope sub 200 but probably more like 220 250 due to no competition low yeilds etc but performance its supposed to be the DX11 equivalent to a 4890

Is the GPU for the 5830 gonna be a different core from the current 5850/5870? Or are they gonna be rejected cores from the 5850/5870s that they just disable faulty shaders or whatnot, so they can still make money off them?

Hm. That is a pretty good question. Information on the 5830 is pretty sparse right now, but if they're launching next week I'm sure we'll find out what they're doing quickly.

I hope this card outperforms a 4890, I don't expect a lot but slightly would be nice, because I'm considering picking one up for my secondary rig. And lets hope the price is right as well, because the 5850 and 5870 is overpriced, can't blame ATI here can we due to lack of competition.

199 or 239. 239 would be way too high for the card. Unless it actually out performs the 4890 by a good enough margin I can't see 239 being a good price point.

+1, 239 is quite extreme. But then again with prices the way they are, hell xfx 5850 is only like $50 cheaper than the 5870. Seems like the chips just arent being produced quickly enough to meet the demand. Plus 4890's are getting harder and harder to find (newegg only carries 2).

I think a 5830 should be priced at 219, rather than 239. IT should outperform a 4890 slightly and give all the features of the 5800 line. I'm guessing it will just disable some faulty shaders. I'd expect 1000 min, 1200 at the high end with a 256 bit bus. Since the 5870 has 1600 and the 5850 has 1440, anything less than 1000 would be unacceptable for a 5800 series card.

Still no specs for this card? I've been waiting patiently to see if its worthwhile to run 2 of these.

Nope, looks like the delay rumour was real. Guess the next date to look forward to is Feb 6 when entry level 5000 and the 5830 is supposed to appear. It just seems reasonable to expect 4890 level performance.

I hope it comes in at about $200, At that price it would continue to put a hurt on Nvidia at all price points.

Yup, $200 price point and slightly beating 4890 and I might get one over the 5850. DX11 and isn't the 4890 being phased out?

yes newegg only sells 2 4890's now. im waiting myself fo the 5830' if they perform as they should im goign to crossfire them and i hope they are at the 200 dollar mark

I wouldn't understand it coming out priced at $200 if it's performance is on par with a 4890. As far as I can tell 4890's still retail for $200 without any sales or cashback.

Unless I'm mistaken about prices of the 4890, 220-230 seems pretty reasonable to me.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't wouldn't see the logic behind listing the same price for a newer card with the same performance, but will most likely have additional power savings, run cooler, have more connections, dx11, and offer the ability to run eyefinity.

Since the odds are pretty high the day the 5830 shows up you'll have a very short window to get 4890s does it really matter? Clearly once they burn through all the 4xxx stock they have left there won't be much to debate.
