My 8800 GTS 512 from xfx went kaboom a few weeks ago. XFX sent me a new 5750. I mainly play WoW. I'll eventually grab CoD:Black Ops in a few weeks also. My brother is giving me his Diamond HD 4890 EXTREME OVERCLOCK card. My system specs are

Q6600@ 3.6 GHZ
4GB ram
Antec 500w PSU
Samsung 245BW and Sony FW900 24" CRT

The 4890 would easily be the better card in that situation.

The 5770 performs about the same as a 4870. In this case the 5750 is slower than the 5770 and the 4890 is faster than the 4870 so it makes it a rather easy choice.

The only exception would be if you play a DX11 game that makes extensive use of features such as tesselation. World of Warcraft however is not one of those games. You'll have the choice of running WoW in either DirectX 9 or DirectX 11. Keep in mind that you will be able to run games in DirectX 11 even on DirectX 10.1 hardware such as the 4890 due to backwards compatibility built right into DirectX 11.

The 4890 is an excellent card for World of Warcraft.

Awesome thanks for the responses. Ive been out of the GPU game for so long but why did XFX send me an AMD card rather than an nvidia? I have no preferences at all but is it that the 5750 outperforms/on par with the 8800 GTS 512? That 8800 GTS ran like a champ for almost 2 years.

Yeah but with DX11 cards you can get about 30% more performance in Wow by adding this line to your wow exe to run DX11. I didnt like my 4890 with WoW it hada hard time in 25 man raids with settings really high settings

Why not just sell Both cards for a better card. you can get around 100 for the 4890 & a good 80-90 for the 5750. right there will be ebough for a 6850 or a 460 1gb

DirectX11 mode in World of Warcraft works great on DirectX10 and DirectX10.1 hardware and benefits from the same efficiency improvements. I run it in DX11 mode on all of the computers in my signature, none of which have DX11 hardware.

Yeah I havent tested it at all on DX10 or DX10.1 cards. I did test it on this 5770 with much improvement. Thats kool tho that it works on other cards
