ATI 4850 HDMI Issues

I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing the same issues i'm having or know of a solution to them. I'm using the DVI-HDMI Dongle that came with the video card. Any help is greatly appreciated.

System:
Vista Ult 64 bit
Q9550
ASUS P5EVM
4GB RAM
2X150GB Raptor
VisionTek 4850
52" Sharp Aquos


1st issue:
When I switch inputs from the PC HDMI input to another input like component(DirecvTV HD-DVR Box) then switch back to the input of the PC, I would loose audio. The device shows it is working in the Playback properties but no sound is heard. I would have to unplugged the HDMI cable for about 5 secs to get sound working again. I have tried another cable but the issue still persists.

2nd issue:
While the PC is on but the TV/Monitor is on another input. I remote desktop to the PC then disconnect then switch back TV/Monitor back to the PC HDMI Input there will no longer be Video Sync. Unplugging the HDMI cable does not help in this situation. Issue only occurs after logging in via remote desktop.
 
Yes I have the same issue of losing sound when I change from compter to tv and back aagain. The way I solve is not to restart but to go to switch users and just log back in without shutting down the pc which is much faster. This is a handshaking issue that may take some time to resolve as there was and is not a standered that all are to live by meaning that HDMI is made several different ways by different companies without a standered everyone is to follow, hence the reason there are so many bugs. Troubleshooting often leads to ways around but not always. As always so called advancements can not be so good at first. Just think of this. Why do we need all these special cables anyways? Example cable such as tv or sat cable comes in with both video and sound why not use the same inexpensive way to continue to to move both sound and video? No we have to have a special cable for this and for that. MMMMMMMM makes me wonder. I mean think of it, sat tv regular cable from your dish carries both hi def and stereo sound even 5.1 so why not continue with this same cable? Just a though, I`m no expert but I simply don`t get it.;)
