Ok, I placed my order last friday for a pair of Diamond HD3870 512mb's. They came in today and are waiting at the house for me to install this afternoon when I get home from work...((Another 3 hours from now)). What kind of an improvement will I expect to notice over my current configuration I have.

Seriously, did you not read any fucking reviews of the card before you bought it? You know what the performance will be, stop show boating.
 
i upgraded from a X1900XT256 to a HD3870. noticed a big difference in games, especially crysis.

got mine on the dell deal not too long ago, best $220 shipped i've ever spent :).
 
no, seriously...I've read review where they say they are bad and where they are great.

And most of the reviews are always compairing them to the nvidia cards.

I've not seen any reviews that compare the 3870's to the 2900 to the X1900's. I for one would like to see a comparison review between all three top level ATi card generation.

:( just thought I would ask here where people have had first hand experience with the cards.

Damn you, lol. Mine got backordered for the third week in a row, so I cancelled. First they were shipping in 3 days, then on the 10th, then the 17th, then the 26th. I'm building a new rig tomorrow, so I'm gonna just use my 1950xtx's in crossfire for the time being and probably grab 2 HD3870x2's when they hit next month.

As for performance on these cards, it's sad that one HD3870 has just about the same performance as my crossfire setup, lol!
 
Maybe by the time you get yours the 3870 silent ones will be out.

I went from a x1950 Pro to a 3870 and went back to my pro. The fan in mine was running backwards.:D:cool:
 
I have 2 3870's in X-fire, and performance is very good. Going from your current cards, to the 3870 will be a huge jump foward. Have fun
 
I saw a small difference upgrading from two x1950 xtx's

The main reason was to run my TH2G in a higher resolution.
 
Nice, as i was reading @ VR-ZONE.com that 3870 in Crossfire config are equal or better to 8800GTS in SLI.
