ATI 2D is much better than nVidia!

Wow.. my 6800's not working right now, so I'm running back on my old Radon 9500, and I must say the Analog out is MUCH sharper on my Dell 19inch Perfect Flat than with the 6800. Guess nVidia's still not up to snuff on their filters.

I agree, images are sharper and clearer on ATI, tho it could be more generation then ability in my case.

seeing as how I moved from PCI MX440, to an AGP 9600 Pro.

DACs on the MX series (old) are no where near the quality of those used on current cards.

edit: (in reference to your retort) i know, was just verifying your belief so someone didnt take it as solid evidence and started a flame war :)

Which is why I said it could be more generation of the card, in my case.

Went from 9800Pro to Ti4200 then back to the Pro... I saw no difference at all.

hmm.. seems odd... Is your 9500 an AIW? Or has vivo? that might change image quality...

Whatever...

cough Bullshit cough

I find my 6800GT to have better image quality than me old 9800 pro did. No difference between an fx5200 and a 9800 pro, or very little though.

It seems odd to me you can say I'm telling Bullshit without considering my history, or what I have known or experienced with computer hardware. Perhaps I had a bad BFG 6800OC or perhaps my 9500 was exceptional. Afterall, all hardware is never 100% the same.

Either ways, seems like the jury's out on the decision. Just thought I'd post my observations.

I do extensive 2D graphics work, etc, and i can agree that ATi has an image quality that is better on the eyes in 2D after a long period of time with current gen cards.

When comparing different gen cards, like my GF2 MX200, and my X800XL, there is a HUGE difference, especially in sharpness, but thats for obvious reasons.

Between my 3 6800NU's, my 6800U, X800, X800 pro, 4 9800 pro's, and X800XL, ide have to say that ive enjoyed the 2D quality on ATI's X800 series better than anything else.

then again, it comes down to what your used to and your past experience.

Well, I have experienced owning/using a reference AGP 6800NU, two Leadtek PCI E 6800NUs, a AGP XFX 6800GT, and two reference PCIE 6800GTs. So we can probably stipulate I know something about nVidia 6800 image quality.

I've also owned/used a BBA 9700Pro, a Sapphire 9800Pro, and an Asus X800XT PE, so I think we can stipulate I know a little about R300 derivative image quality.

I've seen these cards on a 19" Sony Trinitron and a 22" NEC, both good quality monitors.

There is no " I must say the Analog out is MUCH sharper on my Dell 19inch Perfect Flat than with the 6800. Guess nVidia's still not up to snuff on their filters" going on.

Your 6800 is defective or set incorrectly if you see a big difference or evidence of poor filters.

When I need the absolute best 2d performance such as building an Autocad station or Video Editing station I use exclusively Matrox cards. Of course part of that is the exceptional overlay ability with Matrox cards and their stability. Now if they just played games :)

Ive flip-flopped between NV and ATi just about every other card for the past few years, and in the last few, I cant tell a difference in 2D at all. Now I used to be able to, a lot. I had a GeForce3, and went to a 8500 (wanted dual display), and the 2D was a LOT better on the 8500. I noticed it right away. Thats the last time I noticed any 2D difference though. I think the vast majority of people couldnt tell the difference sitting side by side two PCs with different cards now days.

didnt notice a difference with my gf3 ti500 to 9800pro to 6800gt. my gf2 gts however was crap i didnt know until the gf3. still using crt.

My X800Pro and my 6800GT's have the exact same image quality in 2D. I've never seen a difference on a host of different monitors. For those of you experiencing reduced quality on one card or another I'd suggest adjusting your settings or changing drivers.

You wouldn't happen to be the same Komataguri from DZ and the Den would you?
