Crossfire help

I was wondering if there is a way to figure out if my crosffire setup is working properly in the CCP.

If the box is checked in the crossfire section and you didnt crash most likely it has enabled itself. There is no load balance option like SLI at the time. When I question if it actually enabled itself I just start the first benchmark of 3dmark. The CCC is pretty buggy right now when enabling and disabling crossfire, but there is no doubt that it will be fixed. Although I could see them forcing a reboot to fix the issue.
 
I guess i have no idea if its working properly...
In CCC it only shows one gpu it doesn't show both of them.

And I don't know how to get to the advance menu where you can select the render modes.
 
The ATI Catalyst display driver automatically selects the best of the three performance modes when a 3D application is started, without requiring user intervention. You can alternatively choose to improve image quality by selecting one of the Super Anti-aliasing modes (levels above 6X) in ATI Catalyst Control Center > Advanced > Graphics Settings > 3D > Anti-Aliasing.
 
What about only seeing one video card in the CCC, thought i would be able to see both of them as one..or at least both of them.

Wow, ud have to be some freakish kind of ATI fanboy to buy two HD 2900XTs.

And also, the stock fan dosent compliment the rest of the PC very well, if i may say.

Bad Axe 2 doesn't support SLI, and plus the cards are still cheaper in canada compared to the Nvidia Competition

You've already wasted ur money on the QX6700, so i guess it wasnt too hard for u to get the R600, but i still want to know why.
 
Trolls aside ^^^, congrats on the X-Fire setup. The X-Fire setup is actually closer to the GTX SLI than single vs single cards. Just run 3dmark fill rates tests to see if its working or not, know what I mean?
 
In the CCC under Display manager when not in Crossfire you are able to see both cards, when crossfire in enabled you are only able to see one card. Also In the 3d Section there is a drop down menu to control the settings for each card, when in crossfire you will only get an option for one card. It kinda sound like the second card is having issues, maybe a mother board option not familiar with intel motherboards

In the drop down menu i only see one card when X fire is disabled.

Does it matter what card is plugged into the monitor, because in the flash demos i see that they have it plugged into the bottom card, and i have the monitor cable hooked to the top card.

I will have to chek bus speed in BIOS because i see it at 8x I thought the top slot was 16x or will it automatically clock down to match the other card.

Are you able to see the second card in the dispaly manager? If there is not a monitor enabled on the second card, you will only get one card in the drop down menu, whether you are in xfire or normal

The Monitor needs to be plugged in to the top card on your setup. A second monitor can be attaced to the top or bottom card, completly up to you on that one. If you do use a second monitor, you do need to disable it before going into xfire or the chances of locking up are pretty high. I believe that flash demo is meant for the X1000 series
 
In my device manager I see both cards, (whew what a relief).

Only use one monitor, Dell 24 inch.

Cool glad to hear, xfire does seem to do a pretty good job, but I am patienly waiting for the new drivers to see if they fix the rendering issues

hmmm maybe ATi's Vista drivers are terrible? seems like a driver problem...

but in all seriousness you must be a major fanATic for buying 2x 2900xt...they perform worse than cheaper cards, and get owned in the new DX10 demo by 60 FPS...even drivers wont fix that

everyone was wondering why ATi would still put them on market and this is the reason.
 
I ran the test, but really no clue on how that compares to everyone else.

Wasn't meant to be trolling. I've seen folks with moderately oc'd c2d's, and 8800GTX SLI, hit 15-17k.

It doesn't look like a bad setup...just not worth the money involved. Perhaps drivers will change that eventually.

But in any case, before you cry fanboy this, troll that, check out the cards in my sig. :)
 
X-Fire 2900's are very fast, i dont know why everyone thinks like this 2900 = crap.

I would buy one myself but my power supply is only 480W.
 
Once Liquid Cooling enters the picture, and figure out how to overclock the quad core (FSB vs. Multiplier). Then the cards can be overclocked.

And yes i wish the drivers were better, because i can see the difference in behaviour with this setup and my old 1950 pro.

LOL - that score is most certainly NOT fine - I get 9.4k with Crossfire X1900s and an Opteron 170 @ 2.4Ghz. For a twin 2900XT / quad-core setup that score is abysmal, 33% improvement for how much more cash?

Ah, and you're waiting for WC for the quad. Things should improve a bit once you get the CPU around 3.2-3.4

12k 3dmark2006 with a

e6600 @3.2 and 1 8800 GTX @620/2000

There is no way my dual core e6600 should be coming close to your quad core x-fire 2900s

something is up with your setup (as in x-fire isnt enabled)

The fact that I beat it with a single GTS and an E6300 says that something IS wrong.

Even if the hardware isn't useful right now, it will be fairly soon. You're a loser for saying what I highlighted btw.

There is a crossfire bug in the drivers. When you talk about performance with a simple overclock on one HD2900XT to 765/860, I am able to hit

3DMark Score 9567 3DMarks

SM 2.0 Score 4281 Marks

SM 3.0 Score 4686 Marks

CPU Score 2091 Marks

Not that 3dmark really matters, other then for playing with values on your machine
 
Update

After a few days giong bonkers on trying to set these cards up, I think I got the right drivers installed on vista 64. Talk about a pain in the ass but thanks to ATI phone support they helped me out through the process.

some people have seeing problems I suppose? His score WAS fine before, and certainly IS fine in his latest post. Must suck being a hater?

3DMark06 isn't really a good indication of performance in general. I have two 8800 GTX + QX6700, and I get ~14100 pts without any overclocking. Without SLI I get ~11700 pts.

But by simply overclocking the CPU (13 * 266mhz) and keeping everything at stock clocks, I get ~17100 pts.3DMark06 is not a good benchmark, and I would like to think most enthusiasts knows this.

SHREK's score is normal and what it should be for the setup used.
 
Score is not fine.

Double check Crossfire and if it's all working, just wait it out. Expect a few thousand more points onto that score as soon as drivers mature.

EDIT: FYI, 13k with a single GTX on stock air and a QX6700 is easy..
 
scores are fine. trust me.

in other news, the 2900 is neither as hot or as loud as all these reviews sites made it out to be. its completely silent in 2d mode, and in 3d mode you can hear it buts it a low pitches purrrrrr, not whiny and not annoying. full load i get 79'c.
 
I was wondering about the temps, I kept on noticing that my temp is on average between 64 - 75.
