Hey Guys,
I'm looking at getting an Athlon64 pretty soon, and had a question about overclocking. I know the Athlon64 has an onboard memory controller, which gives the CPU lots of bandwidth. When i was thinking about this, it made me realize that the CPU probably doesn't need to have to memory overclocked as much.
I had been looking at getting the corsair value PC3200 ram, but i know i probably won't be able to get to much above the 200mhz mark with it. I was wondering if i would lose all performance increases if i went asyncronous, and ran the CPU at higher than the ram. If my theory is right, i would still gain performance than i had previously, and still allow my ram to run fine. I'm trying to NOT have to pay over another 100 dolalrs to have good overclocking ram.
Thanks for any info.
