Im using old parts to build a couple of pcs, what is a good cheap heatsink that can handle anthlon xp 2400 maybe a 3200xp? last time i was looking at heatsinks, the Thermalalright SK-6+ and SK-7 was good ones for about 15bucks at svc.com.

Also where can i order the screws and springs (replacement parts) for an Alpha 8192 heatsink? Top of the line heatsink 4 years ago.

...and on that same note, I've been looking for either a replacement fan and/or heatsink that is QUIET for a socket A type processor, more specifically the 1800+. Any ideas on a good one of those?

Even for silent enthusiasts? Or just cooling? I don't really care about the cooling quality as much, just need a new fan and/or HS fan combo to put one on my parents' computer. The fan they have on their now just whines and I just need something quieter.

In case you were wondering, my parents don't overclock :p

the zalman7000 (i think thats the one) will be good for quiet and effective, i have liked the SI97 also though.

Thermalright SI-97 is probably the best Socket A heatsink
Definitely. I use it both my Athlon XP systems. Its not too expensive if you find it on the FS/FT boards either.

If you just need something basic, I have a stock socket A hsf I can sell ya for cheap - shoot me a pm if interested.

The SI-97 is just a heatsink, so, acutally, it is totally silent. I put a 92mm Panaflo on mine.
