i purchased a athlon xp 3200+ a while back and i can only run it as a 3000+ i have contacted other people about it. some people say that it's a problem with memory others say it's the motherboard. but i checked the web site for both motherboards that i tried and they both are able to use the cpu. i also updated to the latest bios on both boards. i have checked the numbers on the cpu they are correct for a athlon 3200+@400fsb and the bios auto detects it as a athlon 3200+@400 fsb but it will not run at that speed. right now it is running as a 3000+@400fsb so now i am wondering if it is a remarked cpu. i forgot to mention that the memory that i am using works very good with all my cpu's even my a64 3000+ runs with the memory. i also forgot to mention that the cpu is a oem cpu. can anyone give me an idea what the problem is?

thanks for the info. but i decided to just run it the way i have it. becouse i am planning to upgrade my wife's pc to a athlon 64 soon anyway. i purchased a asrock k7upgrade-880 and i tried the athlon xp 3200+ it booted into windows until i installed the video drivers then it crashed. so i set the jumpers to run as a 3000+@400fsb and it booted into windows with out a problem. i just don't want to bother messing with it anymore after 4 different sticks of pc-3200 memory and 3 motherboards i give up. thanks for the info anyway
