I've managed to get mine overclocked to 2.5ghz from 2.0ghz stock with the Zalman cooler listed in my sig. 3dmark06 temps after the 2 CPU tests were 52c and 48c immediately after the tests. After the 4 other standard tests CPU temps were around 44-46c immediately after the tests. Temps at idle range from 32c-34c.

I was curious if anyone had this same CPU that managed to get it even higher than 2.5ghz with air cooling running stable. I am assuming also that my overclock is stable if it hasn't crashed yet after 4 3dmark06 tests and the temps are still relatively low. I'm using 1.3v as the voltage for CPU. I have a related thread on the video cards/ati flavor boards with more info and pics but since this is an overclocking question I decided to start new thread here.

okay use orthos to test for stability...

1.3v @2.5 is really good..... if its stable

you need min of 8hrs of orthos to be concidered stable...

also my 2 3800+ x2s topped out at 2.6 no matter what vcore..

but see if it is stable with orthos....your temps seem high for such a low vcore...

maybe get a better HSF

2.5 is a good OC for a 3800+ X2

Is that a Manchester core or a Toledo? I just bought myself a Toledo from newegg for about 80 bucks. I got the sucker to 2.8GHz @ 1.4v (stock?) on this asrock but my temps were a bit too high for me to test - at 2.8GHz. I reseated the HSF but I actually made it worse so i'm just going to wait for the new HSF coming in the mail, hopefully tomorrow but probably Wednesday.

My temps were originally about 39-41C idle and about 50C load. When I reseated the HSF -stock AMD one mind you- they jumped to about 50C idle. I've reseated the fucker twice and can't seem to get it back down so i'm just waiting for the new cooler to come in before I waste anymore AS5.

It's a manchester. Here's a screenie. The temps you see on cpu-z are at idle.

I have the same one, and it is stable at 2.7Ghz. I used to have to give it 1.55 vcore on my Gigabyte mobo, but my A8N-SLI Premium is limited to 1.5 vcore in the BIOS. However, it shows up as 1.54. Anyway, yeah... 2.7 all day, but I had to run my AC Ryan 120mm fans full blast to keep it cool. Can you say jet engine? So, I backed it down to 2.65Ghz and get about 35C@idle / 49-50C@load (Prime95) with fans at 50%. Here's a current screenie:

Sorry its a little hard to see. 1680x1050 resolution.

I never realized I got a good OC on my 3800+.

2.7 @ stock voltage, never tried to push it any farther.

My sons 3800+ wont go over 2.5 stable though, no matter the voltage thrown at it.
