athlon 64 3400+ DTR Cooling

Hi,

New to these forums so wasn't sure where to place it. I believe that my CPU above listed maybe overheating. I noticed on both asus k8n-e deluxe boards would shut off with little notice about 20 seconds after booting. ASUS had me try everything they knew which didn't work. So my 2nd board one exhibits the same problems. Reading around I noticed some people said that the heatsink have a small gap on the DTR's, so could this be the source of my problem?

If so, how do I fix it? I really would prefer not to buy another motherboard if this is indeed the problem. So any tricks, I have a standard athlon64 coolermaster with that arctic thermal stuff on it. All advice would be appreciated. If there is a specific cpu fan and heatsink that fixes the problem link away please.

Anything that uses it's own or the stock retention bracket may not work, as you have seen.

That Alpha since it uses it's own clips and screws directly on the motherboard, you can tighten it down until it does contact the CPU core.

In fact any heatsink like that will work just fine... probably this Swiftech will work also.
