ATA Cables Backwards compatible?

I want to get some rounded cables for my pc which is ATA-133, but i am going to use an older, CD-RW that i am guessing is ATA-100, will this work?

Actually, the ATA-133 rating on the rounded cables simply means that the cable is certified to work at up to ATA-133 speeds. Of course, you can use ATA-133 cables on ATA-100, ATA-66, ATA-33 or even PIO-4 systems at up to their rated speeds.

And there is absolutely no optical drive on the market (nope, not even current models) with a "true" ATA-100 interface. Your older CD-RW drive likely has either a PIO-4 (16.6 MB/s maximum bandwidth) or an ATA-33 interface. And even the newest, fastest PATA-interface DVD/CD-RW drives use ATA-66.
