I have 2 cables here from 2 diff mobos. I have a midsize case and where the HDs go bottom, and where the cdrom drive is not even close. I'm loven the fact that SATA is available for burners now but I still think mines damn good so not going to replace it. How bad is it my HD is at an angel \ <- like that the bottom of it is touching the cage bellow. I don't hear it rattling or anything it's just a backup/ storage drive. But wow these cables are dumb what do you guys do with tall cases? Anyone know a good place to get longer cheap cables?

The ATA spec calls for cables to be at most 18" long. So whoever thought up the ATA spec, thought up how long the cables can be.
