The problem is that very few games will play at 1920x1080, full effects and never dip below 60fps, I don't care what video card you have. I always attempted to get the most I could without it dipping below 60fps. This takes lots of trial and error (and I am talking with the real graphic options, not high, medium, low). I read posts on here over the years saying that everyone uses 4xAA16xAF and I try it once in a while but find that it takes a significant performance hit on games. People talk about how anything less than 60fps is too slow but I do not think people many people using 4xAA16xAF at high resolutions and all bells and whistles are getting anything near 60fps. Their eyes just do not notice a difference even though they believe they can.Took me 30s to adjust *every* option in BC2, including fiddling with AA to get the best visual quality I could. If you've never used nor played with AA, how do you even *know* how much of a hit games take with it on? Especially considering not all games treat AA the same way, some games practically don't change in performance where others(like say, Crysis) fall to their knees once you bump it up even a little.
Back when AA first showed up on the Voodoo 3 and GF2 cards, the question was always, 640x480 w/ 2xAA or 800x600 w/o AA. I always chose the later and I stil will always chose resolution over smoothing effects. Now that we play at high resolutions, I do not ever play with jagged edges.I didn't spend hundreds of dollars on video hardware to look at dancing jagged edges.
