I was pointed in this direction to get some factual answers in regards to the Z9PE-D8 WS board. (2P 2011 for those not familiar)

I have seen referencing to the fact that the EVGA SR-X will only be able to OC in the neighborhood of 5%, however I am more inclined to check out the Asus Z9PE-D8 WS board.

This brings me to the reason for the thread, is there going to be any additional headroom for OC with the Z9PE-D8 WS?

Raja, I was told to ask for you. ;)

I had anticipated buying one but seems to be more pricey than I anticipated - lol
Could you list components (just generally) and what you paid for ea?
$4000 - $5000 total?

From what I understand dual 2011 is bad value for the money compared to dual 1366 or 4-way amd setups. 1366 allows bclk overclocking, while dual 2011 is very limited on bclk, and all xeons are multiplier locked AND strap locked, so you can't use the straps to overclock like you would on a 3820.

Well, that is the general consensus, yes. Very little headroom, something in the neighborhood of 5%.

I haven't had time to get my board up and running, but when I get off of work on Monday afternoon, I should have it up and online and report back on how it is doing.

Even stock clock is good for what I have planned for it.

Haven't had a chance to OC it yet, but it is a very solid board with a plethora of options in the bios.

Folds like a champ. :)

The Xeon E5 2600 series cpus are locked down ten ways from Sunday. You will not be able to overclock them beyond 106 bclk on any motherboard at the moment. You can thank Intel when you write them an email about it ;)
