Does anyone know if the Intel Core i7 6700k cpu is compatible with the Asus Hero XI z390 motherboard? Tried this combination earlier today but the motherboard would not boot into windows. The board would start the boot process, but was stuck in some weird loop where it would shut down and start the boot process all over again, then shut down, reboot, shut down, and on and on... I am waiting for the i9 9900K before sending the board back to Newegg. Any ideas?
 
It is not compatible. For an i7 6700K you need a 100 or 200 series board.
 
Thanks Denpepe for the reply. I suspected as much but all the documentation I’ve seen from Intel suggests that the Z390 chipset is backwards compatible with all i7 LGA1151 processors. I guess the waiting begins for the i9 to come into stock!
