Let me start off by saying this is going to be a review in the process.

Here is my card http://imgur.com/a/oqZRd

Installed my card, replacing the old Auzentech Forte 7.1 and it went smooth. I don't really care for that little metal cover on the Phoebus but if removed then then the bracket on the card would only be held up by a single screw so I had to put it back :(

So it's in the computer and I boot it up, strangely it takes about 5-10 extra seconds until my monitor comes alive. Not sure what that is all about but eventually it loads and all is well.

I install the driver for this thing and it went very smooth. No issues as many other have posted.

Reboot.

Counter Strike Source: First thing I do is fire up my favorite game, CSS. Top 20% of the screen is distorted/blurry and everything froze up. Try it again. Same problem. Restart it a few more times and eventually it lets me play but this is no way to play! Sound quality was worse than expected.

Battlefield 3: LOL!!! The entire screen shakes from the start. I play about 2 minutes and the monitor turns completely red. Ctrl Alt Del, done.

Diablo III: The whole screen is blurred out as soon as I launch the game.

As far as sound quality, for music it has been amazing. I [think] I can hear things that I couldn't with the forte and instruments sound a lot more crisp and everything just feels richer. There are a few settings to change around in the software and I am still learning what is what.

Oh crap!

TO ASUS: PLEASE UPDATE DRIVERS. ASAP!!!

People have been reporting that you cannot change from stereo to 5.1 or 7.1 etc. You need to right click on the speaker icon and select speaker settings.

I'm not disappointing I spent $200 on a sound card, but that I didn't wait it out.

UPDATE: Seems all games distorted in some way, some are just worse than others. Nothing is playable for me. Going to go back to the forte and decide weather to send this back or wait for drivers.

I have not had any problem with Diablo 3 or Skyrim, but I agree it took forever to find out how to change the damn speaker settings. If you double click on the speaker icon you can get to the settings as well. I wasn't aware right clicking worked - I will have to try that.

hoping thiss card improves with driver update. i was thinking about this card myself. i seen on asus forums they are having issues with punkbuster also.

Was very interested but then I heard nothing but complaints so far. Will wait atleast 6 months for them to iron out the bugs.

you could of just bought the Recon3d for games and call it a day.

i bought one last week and havent had a single problem.

3d positional sound in games is outstanding, better than my older creative, asus, ht, and turtles beach sound cards.

The Recon3d drivers were great, I haven't had 1 blue screen or error regarding them since installing it a few months ago. Switching to a Titanium HD today though because I'm moving to passive speakers that need RCA jacks. Fingers crossed that Daniel_K drivers will work just as well for me with that card. Sorry to hear about your Phoebus, but I've never put much trust into ASUS.

Ive had the Phoebus now for a few days & have had no problems gaming or crashes. Are my only bass/treble adjustments with this card via the Dolby EQ?

The Daniel_K drivers screwed up my Titanium Pro pretty badly, couldn't even uninstall them afterwards. All of Creatives latest W7 drivers seem to be working fine for me, haven't had any issues on my new rig or previous. Although I can never properly install Creative drivers, I always have to extract the .exe and run the setup manually from a directory else I get missing file errors.
